*D2R Loot Farming Quick Guide*
Knowing where to farm is just as important as having a powerful build in Diablo II: Resurrected. While every monster has a chance to drop valuable loot, certain areas and bosses are significantly better for specific items. The farming guide above provides a quick reference for the best locations to target depending on what you're hunting.
Gold
If your goal is to accumulate gold quickly, Travincal is one of the best farming locations in the game. The High Council members drop large amounts of gold, making it the preferred destination for gambling and repairing expensive gear.
Gems
Chipped Gems
Need chipped gems for Horadric Cube recipes?
Farm:
Anywhere in Normal Act I
Normal Secret Cow Level
Flawless and Perfect Gems
For higher-quality gems, Hell Secret Cow Level remains one of the most efficient farming locations thanks to its massive monster density.
Socketable Bases
If you're searching for white or gray bases for runewords like Enigma, Infinity, Spirit, or Fortitude, farm:
Normal Cows
Hell Cows
When farming bases, many players intentionally use 0% Magic Find so more normal (non-magical) items drop.
Jewels and Rainbow Facets
Jewels and Rainbow Facets drop frequently from elite monsters and champions.
Best farming locations include:
Hell Secret Cow Level
Level 85 Areas
Champion Packs
These areas provide both high monster density and access to the highest treasure classes.
Charms
Large numbers of monsters equal more charm drops.
Good farming areas include:
Hell Cows
Champion Areas
Terror Zones
For players chasing Skill Grand Charms, high-level farming areas are ideal.
Re-Rollable Grand Charms
Only a handful of monsters can drop Grand Charms capable of rolling every desirable affix.
The best sources are:
Hell Diablo
Hell Baal
Hell Nihlathak
These high item-level charms are prized because they can be rerolled into skillers with life, Faster Hit Recovery, or other valuable modifiers.
Gheed's Fortune
The unique Grand Charm Gheed's Fortune can only drop once per game and is most efficiently farmed from:
Hell Secret Cow Level
Its bonuses to Magic Find, vendor prices, and extra gold make it a staple for many players.
Stone of Jordan
The legendary Stone of Jordan has one of the highest drop chances from:
Nightmare Andariel
Thanks to her restricted loot table, she's still considered one of the best targets for players specifically hunting this iconic Unique ring.
Unique and Set Items
If you're looking for end-game Uniques and Set pieces, focus on:
Hell Pindleskin
Hell Andariel
Hell Mephisto
These bosses offer quick runs and excellent chances to drop many of Diablo II's most sought-after items.
Holy Grail Farming
Players attempting a Holy Grail (finding every Unique and Set item in the game) should prioritize:
Level 85 Areas
Terror Zones
Champion Packs
These locations can drop nearly every item in Diablo II.
Rare Items
High-end Rare equipment is most commonly farmed from:
Level 85 Areas
Champion Packs
Elite Monsters
Many of the game's best circlets, rings, gloves, and boots come from these enemies.
Rune Farming
Low and Mid Runes
Best locations include:
Nightmare Secret Cow Level
The Countess (all difficulties)
The Countess has special rune drop mechanics that make her ideal for early runewords.
High Runes
For Jah, Ber, Cham, Zod, and other elite runes, farm:
Hell Secret Cow Level
Travincal Council
Level 85 Areas
Terror Zones
High monster density is the key to maximizing rune drops.
Key Farming
To assemble a Key Set for the Pandemonium Event, farm these bosses:
Key of Terror
Hell Countess
Approximately 1:14 drop chance on Players 1
Approximately 1:11 on Players 3
Key of Hate
Hell Summoner
Approximately 1:11 on Players 1
Approximately 1:8 on Players 3
Key of Destruction
Hell Nihlathak
Approximately 1:12 on Players 1
Approximately 1:9 on Players 3
Increasing the player count beyond these levels generally provides little additional benefit for key farming.
Efficient farming is all about targeting the right content for the loot you want. While Hell Secret Cow Level excels at runes, socketable bases, gems, and charms, bosses like Andariel, Mephisto, and Pindleskin remain excellent choices for Unique and Set items. Meanwhile, Travincal, Level 85 Areas, and Terror Zones offer some of the best opportunities for end-game wealth.
Instead of farming the same area endlessly, choose your destination based on your current goal. Whether you're hunting a Stone of Jordan, collecting keys for Uber Tristram, building your Holy Grail collection, or searching for that elusive Ber Rune, focusing on the right location will greatly improve your efficiency and your chances of finding Diablo II's most valuable treasures.
