Battle.net Account Banned? How to Appeal a Blizzard Account Closure

Post by d2rmarketplaceadmin »

Logging into your Battle.net account only to see the dreaded "Account Banned" or "Account Closure" message can be frustrating—especially if you believe the action was taken in error.

In most cases, Blizzard will also send an email explaining why your account was suspended or permanently closed. The email typically includes the violation category, such as Exploitation, Unauthorized Cheat Programs, Abuse of the Economy, or another breach of Blizzard's Terms of Use.

If you genuinely believe your Battle.net account was banned by mistake, don't panic. While Blizzard does not reverse every enforcement action, you can submit an appeal for a manual review.

Example Blizzard Ban Notice:

Action Taken: Account Closure
Violation: Exploitation

How to Appeal a Battle.net Account Ban

1. Submit a Blizzard Support Ticket Immediately. US Battle.net site.

Sign in to your Battle.net account and navigate to the Blizzard Support website. From there, create a support ticket requesting a review of your account action. The sooner you submit your appeal, the sooner Blizzard's support team can begin reviewing your case.

2. Explain Your Situation Clearly and Professionally

When writing your appeal:

Remain calm and respectful.
Clearly explain why you believe the ban was issued in error.
Include any relevant information that may help Blizzard investigate.
Avoid making accusations or using aggressive language.

If you honestly believe you did not violate Blizzard's Terms of Use, explain your gameplay, account activity, and any circumstances that may have contributed to the incorrect enforcement.

3. If Your Appeal Is Denied, Consider One Additional Appeal

If Blizzard denies your initial appeal, you may choose to submit one additional support ticket under a more appropriate category if you believe important information was overlooked.

Keep in mind that repeatedly submitting identical appeals is unlikely to change the outcome and may simply result in the same response. Instead, provide any new information or clarification that wasn't included in your original request.

Can Blizzard Reverse an Account Ban?

Yes—but only if Blizzard determines that the enforcement action was made in error. During the appeal process, a Game Master or another member of Blizzard's support staff may perform an additional review of your account activity.

If the original ban was correct, Blizzard will generally uphold the decision.

Final Thoughts

Receiving a Battle.net account ban can be disappointing, particularly if you've invested years into your account. If you believe the account closure was a mistake, submit a respectful, well-written appeal and provide as much relevant information as possible.

While there is no guarantee that Blizzard will overturn its decision, a clear and professional appeal gives you the best chance of having your case reviewed fairly.
